Network sharing

We provide support across all areas of network sharing including synergy analysis, commercial model road mapping and integration strategy.
As the industry continues to optimise the financial efficiency of its network assets, we assist our clients in understanding the pros and cons of monetising or sharing passive and active components within shared networks.
Operators often jointly appoint us as a clean team to build a business case without sharing data. Our analysis includes calculating the opex and capex synergies from network sharing as well as considering the cost to integrate the networks.
We also help operators identify the optimal commercial model for the sharing case and develop integration and transformation plans. We have also supported operators to gain regulatory approval for the proposed sharing.
Our network sharing services
Business case development
We use our proprietary network dimensioning model to build business cases for operators considering passive, active (MORAN) or spectrum (MOCN) sharing.
Due diligence
We help review business plans involving network sharing arrangements including market considerations, the regulatory environment and the technologies used.
Commercial model road mapping
We help policy makers facilitate the sharing of towers, networks and spectrum while retaining incentives for infrastructure deployment and competition.
Regulatory approvals
We assess the impact that network sharing would have on network performance considering speeds, coverage and QoS. The impact can be used to gain regulatory approval for the proposed sharing.
Integration strategy
We use our network dimensioning model to assess the long-term network requirements for the shared network. This supports the business and financial planning as well as integration strategy for the shared network.
Our project experience
Mobile network sharing assessment
Aetha assisted two European MNOs to assess the synergies and cost of integration from network sharing, considering MORAN and MOCN models.
5G network sharing synergies assessment
Aetha undertook a detailed assessment of the synergies available from sharing the 5G layer (and, crucially, its rollout) between two MNOs in an APAC country.
Impact assessment for competition clearance
Aetha supported Telstra in assessing the impact that a MOCN agreement with TPG would have for competition clearance.
Commercial due diligence of RANco
Aetha carried out commercial due diligence of Cellnex Poland’s tower and RAN assets ahead of a proposed partial stake sale.
