Jonathan Wall
Jonathan supports telecoms operators and regulators in areas including 5G network strategy, spectrum valuation and cost modelling. In particular, he has managed the development of complex quantitative models used to help operators develop their approach to 5G and to prepare for 5G spectrum auctions.
Jonathan’s core expertise is in supporting clients to assess their spectrum strategy, often ahead of major spectrum awards. This includes regulatory support, spectrum valuation, network strategy and bid strategy work. He has also supported clients to develop their business plans, and to prepare network costing models ahead of regulatory processes.
Prior to joining Aetha, Jonathan studied Physical Sciences at the University of Cambridge.
Examples of projects which illustrate the breadth of Jonathan’s experience include:
Providing a Western European operator with network strategy advice and valuations for 1400MHz, 2100MHz, 2300MHz, 3.5GHz & 26GHz spectrum ahead of an upcoming award.
Providing end-to-end support for a Middle Eastern operator in preparation for a series of spectrum auctions (700MHz, 800MHz, 1800MHz, 2.3GHz, 2.6GHz, 3.5GHz), including spectrum valuation, network strategy ahead of a 5G launch, consultation support and bid strategy development.
Supporting an Eastern European operator to assess the value of 3.5GHz spectrum ahead of an award process, including a detailed valuation of the technical impact of regional restrictions on different lots in the award.
Supporting a North American operator to assess the value of 3.5GHz spectrum to itself, as well as a range of national and smaller regional competitors, ahead of an award process.
Producing cost models and regulatory accounts on LRIC basis for a South Asian fixed and mobile operator.
Supporting an Eastern European regulator to determine the auction format and reserve prices for the award of 700MHz spectrum, including international benchmarking of spectrum prices, as well as bottom-up spectrum valuation.
Supporting a North American mobile operator with auditing and developing its business plan in preparation for a refinancing transaction
